Seagulls sign ex-Blue Harrison Macreadie
Williamstown Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of former Carlton player Harrison Macreadie for the 2021 season.
Macreadie, a 194cm key defender, was recruited by the Blues from Henty with pick 47 in the 2016 AFL National Draft after spending time with GWS through their academy.
The 22-year-old debuted in the 2017 season opener against Richmond and played nine AFL games in the navy blue.
Macreadie has been a strong reader of the play and intercept marking defender - traits that have been on full display when on the park for Carlton, including his 33 matches representing the Northern Blues at VFL level.
Macreadie averaged 10.5 disposals (78.6 per cent efficiency), 3.8 marks and 2.7 rebound 50s across 12 matches in the 2019 VFL season.
“Harrison is an emerging key defender who unfortunately suffered some injuries at the wrong time during his career at Carlton. There is a lot to like for Seagulls fans and he will play a key role in our defensive half next season,” GM-Football Stephen Soulsby said.
"He also has a family connection already here as he is cousins with Sam & Nick Murray and joins Carlton teammate Cam Polson which will make his transition into the Club a lot easier," he added.
