Seagulls humbled by members' pledge
Williamstown Football Club is delighted with the action of our members who are continuing to back the Club in season 2020 and beyond.
Over 97 per cent of our 2020 members have pledged to maintain their financial support of the Seagulls in response to a recent Club offer.
The membership options were delivered by the Club on the back of the exciting news announced last week that a VFL season will go ahead, while the AFL also confirmed a September Super Series for VFLW players.
While the Club was thrilled to learn that our players will be competing in 2020, this year has been like no other.
CEO Jason Reddick stated: “The ability to provide our most loyal fans with the typical benefits of past years has clearly been restricted because of the COVID-19 situation that we are all dealing with.
“In light of these circumstances, we have reached out to provide members with some options to retain their 2020 membership, convert it into a tax-deductible donation or cancel and request a refund.”
One member stated they “couldn’t think of anything better" than retaining their membership and supporting the Club, a sentiment shared by the overriding majority of responses received.
Another member insisted they will be donating additional money on top of their 2020 membership - an incredible gesture.
“We are proud to know that our Club supporters will go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure we can operate effectively during this crisis and emerge on the other side in a strong position,” Reddick said.
“The Club has faced significant hardship before and has survived by standing together with its community, and the support of our current members is continuing that legacy.”
