Williamstown Football Club announce the departure of Penny Cula-Reid
Today the Club announces the departure of Williamstown Football Club’s VFL Women’s senior coach Penny Cula-Reid.
Joining the Seagulls in 2020, Penny has played an important role in the continuation of the development of the women’s program at Williamstown Football Club. As an active member of our football community, she has been passionate about building strong connections and opportunities for local women in football.
During the 2022 season Bridie Kennedy (Sydney Swans), Sophia McCarthy (North Melbourne) and Gabrielle Bidenweg-Webster (Gold Coast Suns) were all drafted into the AFLW out of the Williamstown Football Club women's program.
“Penny has played a key role in the growth of our women’s program and on behalf of the Seagulls family, I thank her for her commitment over the past three seasons. Penny’s passion for women’s football has seen several young players drafted to the AFLW this season.” – Ashley Baker- CEO, WFC.
Penny leaves to pursue other football opportunities with the full support of the Club. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Penny for her contribution and wish her well for the future.
“It has been a whirlwind three years and throughout the COVID period the Club has been extremely supportive in ensuring the football programs continued to operate. My time as a Seagull has been nothing but a positive experience and I want to thank everyone who I have worked with and wish Williamstown nothing but the best of success in future years.” – Penny Cula-Reid.
The football club will immediately begin the recruitment process for a VFLW coach, for what is to be an exciting 2023 season.
