VFL will not proceed this weekend | VFL & VFLW fixture update
The AFL has advised all VFL and VFLW clubs that matches will not proceed this weekend following the five-day lockdown announced by the State Government across the state today.
This means the Seagulls scheduled clash with Northern Bullants at Preston City Oval won't go ahead this Saturday, with outdoor physical recreation and sport prohibited for the lockdown period from 11.59pm, Thursday July 15.
Earlier, the AFL had postponed Williamstown's scheduled trip to Brisbane to face Aspley in an effort to limit interstate travel to minimise risk. Later today, the State Government then announced the lockdown which means all VFL and VFLW games this weekend won't take place.
In a statement, the AFL outlined;
- there will be a competition VFL bye this weekend to provide "balance and equity" for all clubs
- the remaining 2021 fixture is a "week-to-week proposition"
We would like to urge the entire Seagulls community to stay safe and to look after one another during this time and we'll be back out on the field soon, 'Proudly Williamstown.'
We will provide members and supporters further updates when available.
