VFL Memory Lane: North Melbourne

Until Williamstown gets back on the field, we'll be throwing back to a recent VFL encounter against the club we were scheduled to play round by round.

2020 original Round 14 fixture: North Melbourne v Williamstown, Arden St, July 5, 12:00pm.

Throwback game: Round 10, 2019, Downer Oval.

SEAGULLS TOO STRONG FOR NORTH ON PRIDE DAY

Williamstown has notched up its sixth win of the season with a 53-point victory over North Melbourne.

The sun was shining at Downer Oval as the home side celebrated their second annual Pride Game, now sitting in fourth position on the ladder momentarily with games still to be played in Hard Yakka / Totally Workwear VFL Round 10.

It was an impressive all-round performance with 11 individual goal-kickers, including four majors to Nick Rodda, three to Joel Ottavi and two each to Sam Dunell, Mitch Hibberd and captain Adam Marcon.

Star ruckman Nick Meese was a welcome addition back into the team this week, commanding the centre against AFL-listed Tom Campbell.

It was a great contest in the middle of the ground, led by Hibberd (29 disposals, 12 tackles) against his former teammates and the always dependable Willie Wheeler (one goal, 26 disposals, eight tackles).

Williamstown's back six was strong all day, including dominant performances from Leigh Masters (eight marks, three tackles), Jake Greiser (21 disposals, five marks) and Joel Tippett (20 disposals, five tackles).

The Seagulls utilised all of their opportunities up forward, registering only four more inside 50s than the Roos, but kicking nine more goals.

The Seagulls will face their old foes Port Melbourne next week at Adcon Stadium, at 2pm on Sunday.

SCORE:

Williamstown: 19.9 (123)

North Melbourne: 10.10 (70)

GOALS:

Rodda 4, Ottavi 3, Dunell, Hibberd, Marcon 2, Kennedy, Myers, Pickess, Wheeler, Charleston, Tate
