Cameron & Porter become latest Women's signings

Williamstown Football Club continues to add to its historic first VFLW team with Andrea Cameron and Isabelle Porter the latest to sign for the Seagulls.

Cameron, 25 from the Port Melbourne Colts, In her first senior year before moving to the Colts, Cameron played at WyndhamVale and won Best First Year Player. In her second season she captain an undefeated team to a premiership. She then moved to Port Melbourne where she won the premiership in her first season and won the club Best and Fairest this season.

Cameron also has a strong connection to Williamstown already, her pop Bill Sheahan and aunty Kathy Sheahan have strong connections to the club and Cameron says she can't wait to carry on the tradition.

"It's a pretty special thing to pull on a jumper that is so respected in my family." Cameron said.

"I have great uncles and second cousins who have also worn a Williamstown jumper over the years and I can't wait to do the same."

"I am just trying to challenge myself and play at the highest level that I possibly can outside of the AFL. I have always played the lower division football and it will be a massive step up for me and it will give me a good indication of where I sit against some of the bigger names of women’s football."

Porter, 19 is from the Northern Territory and was a star for Darwin in the NTFL finishing in the bests an astonishing 13 times in 19 games. After putting in a best on ground performance on her way to a premiership in 2016, this year she came down to Melbourne and played for the Darebin Falcons.

Porter says while nervous about the move initially she can't wait to get started at the Seagulls.

"It was a big move down, at first I was nervous and scared but I soon settled." Porter said.

"I have no regrets as I’m getting new opportunities but definitely missing the family. I am very excited and pumped for the season ahead and can’t wait to hit the track with the girls."
