Thorpe claims Grand Final win in community wrap

We had 4 boys play in Grand Finals and 1 in a preliminary final over the weekend at their respective community clubs.

In the Northern Football League, Jaylon Thorpe was a solid contributor for West Preston Lakeside in their upset victory over Macleod in the Grand Final. West Preston Lakeside held off an inaccurate Macleod side that only lost twice throughout the year, becoming premiers of the Northern Football League by 9 points.

In the Eastern Football League, Jason Pongracic worked tirelessly for South Croydon but a blistering first half by Vermont saw them home, winning the Grand Final by 35 points.

In the Country Leagues, Ryley Monkhorst was amongst the best for Woori Yallock as they lead all day to defeat Healesville by 20 points in the preliminary final. Woori Yallock will play Wandin in the Grand Final this weekend, looking to atone for their disappointing performance in the Semi Final.

Still in the Country Leagues, Nick Richards worked hard all day for Wangaratta however it just wasn’t enough as Albury Tigers managed to held on to an 8 point to win despite a late shot on goal by Richards. In the Ballarat League, Liam Carter kicked a goal for Melton as they fell just 2 points short against East Point in a classic Grand Final. Melton was up by 22 points at half time before East Point rallied in the second half.
