VFLW Gulls to be part of rules trial game

The Williamstown Football Club has been informed by the AFL Victoria that its Round 15 VFLW away game against Essendon will be used as a trial as part of its research work for the AFL’s Competition Committee.

AFL Victoria advised that the upcoming match would see the following features trialled:
* a larger goal-square for kick-outs
* boundary throw-in’s brought in 10m
*10m kicks paid as a mark (decreased from 15m).

CEO Jason Reddick said the Club was supportive of the industry efforts to continue to grow the game more broadly.

“We are supportive of AFL initiatives to improve the VFLW and the AFLW game, and we will provide the appropriate feedback to the AFL and AFL Victoria following the match” said Reddick.

“We welcome all our Seagull members to Windy Hill on Saturday August 18 to support our VFLW team and see these rules in effect”.
