A strong NT Thunder outfit has overcome a plucky Williamstown, defeating them by 45-points in their round 13 clash at Werribee’s Avalon Airport Oval today.
The second-placed Thunder highlighted why they will be a contender this year, overcoming the plucky Seagulls who challenged them in the first half.
The final margin didn’t do Williamstown’s courageous performance any favours, with the blue and gold playing extremely well in the second quarter. Williamstown took the game on and hunted their opponents, and kicking the first two goals of the term to enter the half-time break down by only 14-points.
The Thunder then took control in the second half - kicking six goals to one - powering ahead of the resilient Seagulls. An area of the game that Williamstown dominated was the tackle count, they applied plenty of pressure on the opposition ball carrier winning the tackle count 66 to 39.

Williamstown midfielder Jenna Bruton finished with 23 disposals and 10 tackles, in what was an exceptional game for the AFLW-listed player. Jess Duffin also finished with equal team-high disposals – finishing the game on 23 – which accompanied her nine marks. Duffin displayed her skills with a classy piece of ball work by the star player resulting in her tenth goal for the season.

In her eighth game for the year, Rebecca Dardengo played a crucial role in defence finishing with seven rebound 50s and three tackles. Nikki Wallace was back to her best today, attacking the ball with tenacity and was a big reason for the high tackle count, finishing with six tackles.

In her first game for the club, Jessica Bartolo worked her way into the contest and performed brilliantly. The first-gamer spoke after the match about the excitement of finally running out and highlighted the team needing to focus on playing consistent four-quarters of football.
Best afield for the NT Thunder was Anne Thatcher, who booted a game-high four goals for the victorious side.

Looking ahead to next week and the VFLW Seagulls will face off against Richmond at Punt Rd Oval for their round 14 clash.
