Seagulls Secure Burke

Williamstown have signed their 12th player this off-season, securing Bendigo Pioneers utility Jayden Burke for season 2016.

The 188cm Burke joins Lachie Schultz in making the move down to Williamstown, after an impressive season at TAC Cup level.

Football Manager Chris Dixon said that the 18-year old Burke has plenty to offer his new club.

"Jayden is a versatile player who plays above his height, playing at both ends and even in the ruck at times for the Pioneers," said Dixon.

"He is a great contested mark and has an outstanding vertical leap, which he tested well for at the recent state screening."

Burke played 16 games at TAC Cup level this year, featuring in the best on six occasions and averaging 13 disposals and five marks per game. His strong season led to him finishing 5th in the Pioneers' best and fairest count.

Burke also made his VFL senior debut as 23rd man for Geelong against the Northern Blues late in the year.

Burke, originally from the Golden Square Football Club, becomes the fifth player on the Seagulls list to come out of the Bendigo Pioneers program, following in the footsteps of Leigh Masters, Jacob Chisari, Jake Maher and Lachie Schultz.
